Matt Haverstick Comments on Supreme Court’s Decision to Overturn Cosby’s Conviction

Matt Haverstick, a Kleinbard Managing Partner and Member of the Firm’s Litigation department, was quoted in a Law.com article on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction. The Court found that the prosecutors used an “unconstitutional” approach that led Cosby to waive his Fifth Amendment rights when he testified in the case involving Andrea Constand’s sexual assault allegations. According to the article, Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. had made an agreement with Cosby to not press criminal charges if he testified, thus coercing him to not exercise his right against self-incrimination.

“The Constitution applies to everyone, even bad people,” said Haverstick.
